I Know That Thou Canst Do Every Thing

By David J. Stewart

Job 42:2, “I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.”

Isn't that a beautiful Bible verse! Job exclaimed, “I know that God can do every thing!” There is nothing too hard for God to do. Carefully notice that Job didn't just say that God can do anything; but rather, God can do EVERY THING. The Hebrew word in Job 42:2 for “every thing” is kol kol, which means “whole, that is, any, all or every.” Not only can God do anything, but God can do it all, without our help, if we'll cast our cast upon Him through prayer as 1st Peter 5:7 teaches.

Philippians 4:6-7, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

The word for “prayer” here in the Greek is proseuche and means by implication, an oratory, that is, to formally address God. “Supplication” is deesis means “a petition,” that is, to ask God a request. The Bible is telling us to go to the Lord in prayer and communicate with Him, making our requests known to God, casting our cares and problems upon His shoulder, because He cares about us. God already knows our needs (Matthew 6:7-8). The reason why He wants us to pray is a matter of faith. God resists the proud who don't pray (James 4:6). Prayer is in its very nature an act of humility, by which we are acknowledging our realization that we desperately need God's help, guidance and power in our life. Oh, my friends, prayer is beautiful.

Prayer is our opportunity to shew our faith in God. Have you ever wanted to do something special for God? You can please Him by having faith in Him, by praying even when it seems like He's not listening. Believe me, God is listening and has promised that our prayers are never in vain. 1st Corinthians 15:58 teaches that our labourers for Christ are NEVER in vain in the Lord. Notice that our labours must be IN THE LORD. Prayer is a form of labor (Colossians 4:12). Our labours in prayer are NEVER in vain in the Lord. If you don't believe that, then you don't believe the Bible. 1st Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Notice what Job says, I know ... that no thought can be withholden from thee.” There will be no juries in eternity on judgment day. God doesn't need a lie-detector machine to test whether we are telling the truth. GOD KNOWS ALL! God can do anything (omnipotent) and He knows everything (omniscient). God is everywhere (omnipresent).

God cannot change (immutable). Isn't it wonderful that the unchanging God of the universe is morally perfect (holy), without respect of persons and cannot be bribed, blackmailed or bought off as with mankind? Men change continually. Our loved ones change. Our friends change. Hollywood keeps changing for the worse. U.S. society is foolhardily following Hollywood into the depths of hell, fire and damnation.

Here are some awesome Bible Scriptures from the trustworthy King James Bible...

Psalms 4:7-8, “Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”

Psalms 9:12, “When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.”

Psalms 11:5, “The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.”

Psalms 11:7, “For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.”

Psalms 33:5, “He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.”

Job said that God can do anything. Do you have that faith in God? Many people place God on trial and find Him guilty in their feeble minds of not being part of their life, not answering their prayers and not helping them. In the worldly and murderous movie, “No Country For Old Men,” Tommy Lee Jones' character as a police sheriff says that he thought God would come into his life as he got older, but He didn't. That's how many people feel in real life.

The truth is that God has authored the Bible to mankind. God has presented Himself to mankind, but you must believe that God exists as Hebrews 11:6 teaches, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” My friend, you must seek the Lord while He may be found. I get tired of hearing unsaved heathens say that they have never seen any proof of God. What hubris! God's presence is abundantly clear to anyone who is honest and examines the universe. Just the study of astronomy is astonishing evidence of intelligent design, which mandates a divine Creator.

Romans 1:20, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.” It is only a person's love for sin that compels them to deny the abundant evidence in nature and life that boldly declare the omnipotence, existence and goodness of God. Psalms 19:1-3, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.” My friend, God is speaking to you in His holy Word, through the life and words of the Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1-2).

The problem is that most people don't accept the Bible as God's inspired Words, as so they spend the remainder of their short and miserable lives searching for God in all the wrong places. God is here waiting for you.

2nd Chronicles 7:14-15, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.”

God can do anything and every thing, and He has already done great and mighty things if you're eyes are open. History is HIS STORY. The Bible proclaims God's greatness. History proclaims God's greatness. The question is simple, will you accept the evidence? Some people do, others don't, but the truth is there if you desire it.

The Bible proclaims in Job 42"2 that God can do EVERY THING, that is, God can do ANY, ALL or EVERY thing. God can do it all, the whole thing! God can do anything, there is nothing to hard for Him! God can do all things, without our help. There's only one thing that God desires from us that He cannot give Himself... OUR HEART! Proverbs 23:26, “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.” If God has our heart, then everything else will follow. Amen!

My God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do! Here's a song that is awesome to sing on your church bus route or in your church's youth group (you can hear the melody on You Tube)...

My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do

The mountains are His, the rivers are His
The stars are His handiwork too
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do, hey, hey

My God is so great, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do

The mountains are His, the rivers are His
The stars are His handiwork too
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do

My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do

The mountains are His, the rivers are His
The stars are His handiwork too
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do

There's nothing my God cannot do
There's nothing, nothing, nothing He can't do
