Jesus Paid it All

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Most of the religions in the world teach that we must DO SOMETHING self-righteous in order to be saved. The Bible, God's Word, doesn't teach this at all. Jesus paid it all.

There are many religious teachers today who propagate a false gospel, claiming that it's not enough to place one's faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. One such group are those who teach Lordship Salvation, i.e., the heresy that a sinner MUST surrender his life to Christ and be willing to cease from his sinful ways as a prerequisite to being saved. There is no such self-righteous teaching in the Bible. If a person must stop committing sins to be saved, then salvation is a reward and not a gift as Romans 6:23 says it is. It is important to always keep in mind that eternal life is a free gift, paid for by Jesus' precious redeeming blood (1st Peter 1:18-19).

Thus, salvation is receiving; not giving. Jesus paid a debt He did not owe, because we owed a debt we could not pay. Our part is simply to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. All we need do is acknowledge our guilt of sin and believe on Christ to forgive those sins. Salvation is simple. We are sinners and Jesus is the Savior.

There's a popular Gospel hymn that goes... "Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe." That's only half true! Yes, Jesus paid it all; but we don't owe Him anything. Christ asks for nothing in return for salvation. Again, salvation is a free gift; and not a reward for obedience. If we are OBLIGATED to do anything, I mean even the smallest thing in our own self-righteousness to obtain salvation, then eternal life could not be a free gift. Jesus paid it all, period!

Please don't let anyone deceive you in this matter of salvation. We are saved strictly by HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, i.e., the righteousness of Jesus Christ which God imputes to every believer at the time of salvation... “Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works” (Romans 4:6). Amen!
