Lessons from the Life of Lot — Pastor Max Younce
Lot had to compromise to become a friend of the world. He would not stand for God against the evil lifestyle of Sodom. (Just like America today and same-sex marriage. James 4:4, 1st John 2:14-17)

Lot, and Abraham in Genesis 13:7-11 are an example of walking in the flesh vs. walking in the Spirit. Genesis 13:12,13 tells us of five cities in the plain; and Lot chose Sodom in which to live. (Genesis 14:12). Genesis 18:16 to all of Chapter 19 gives the sordid details of Lot's sin and the consequences. We find in Genesis 18:23-32, through Abraham's intercession, God promises that he would not destroy the city if 50, 45, 40, 30, 20; or even 10 righteous people could be found. But, Lot had such a poor testimony, he could not even find 10.

When the two angels come to Sodom and the Sodomites request the two men, (19:8) Lot offers up his two daughters, (19:11) In Lot's family were two married daughters and two son-in-laws.(4) His wife and two unmarried daughters (3) Lot, himself, totals 8.

When he told the son-in-laws of the angels' warning; “he seemed as one who mocked” (19:14c). Of Lot's 8 family members; only 4 would follow the angel's warning and leave Sodom. His wife, the two unmarried daughters, and Lot. His wife became a pillar of salt and now, only 3 were left. Lot and his two daughters end up in a cave. (19:30) where as a result of incest planned by the daughters: the oldest daughter bare Moab (19:37) and the youngest bare Ammon, (19:38).

Without 2 Peter 2:7-9, we would not know Lot was a righteous man. Romans 1:18-32 reveals what God thinks of the perverted homosexual and lesbian “life style.” God calls it “sin.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 reveals that these can be saved; BUT, he expects them to cease their perversions; not to be saved; but, as a testimony. “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” (6:11)

“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
—2nd Thessalonians 1:8
