ETERNAL SECURITY

Genesis 9:13, “I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”

Chapter 2 — The Rainbow and Eternal Security

God keeps His promises! God is a promise making and a promise keeping God. The Bible contains literally THOUSANDS of promises from God. Amen! The rainbow is a token that God always keeps His promises, particularly not to destroy the earth again by flood. The Bible tells us in Titus 1:2 that God "cannot lie."

One of the promises God makes to mankind is found in Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." The promise is simple. If we call upon the Lord, we will be saved. The word “call” means “to appeal unto,” that is, we are to seek salvation in Jesus Christ. Those who come to Jesus to be saved will be.

There is a serious flaw in the teaching that salvation can be lost, in that it makes God a liar and a promise-breaker. There are numerous passages of Scripture which promise Eternal Life unto those who BELIEVE. For example: John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." That is a promise from God Almighty!

To say that eternal life can be lost is to call God a liar. There is not one single Scripture in all the Bible that teaches salvation can be lost. Only be wrestling the Scriptures can one come to the erroneous conclusion that salvation can be lost. Yet, we do have clear Scriptural teaching that those who believe on the Lord SHALL BE SAVED. Acts 10:43, "To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins." Could the Scriptures be any clearer?

When considering the doctrine of Eternal Security, let us begin with the clear and solid teachings of the Word of God, before we entertain the unscriptural and unfounded teachings of men who pervert the Scriptures to satisfy their own self-righteousness. Salvation is of the Lord; and not men. It is our part simply to believe on Jesus Christ to keep His promise to wash our sins away and save us through faith.
