Arguing with Jehovah's Witnesses

By David J. Stewart

Titus 3:9-11, “But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.”

Jehovah's Witnesses love to argue and debate, for it's what they are trained to do. I've rarely met a Jehovah's Witness who didn't have an insatiable appetite for arguing over religion. Sad, but true, it appears that Jehovah's Witnesses spend more time learning how to defend their heresies than they do searching for the truth of God's Word.

Recently two Jehovah's witnesses came knocking at my door. I wanted to speak with them just long enough to preach the Gospel to them and leave with them a few parting comments concerning their founder, Charles Taze Russell, and the occult nature of their organization. As expected, they shirked away from any mention of Mr. Russell and said that their organization is much different today than it was in Russell's time. I explained to the two men that one fact could not be denied, no matter how much they may try to deny it—the Jehovah's Witness religion was founded by Charles Taze Russell. Biblical Christianity goes back to Jesus Christ Himself. The heretical doctrines which the Jehovah's Witnesses propagate in the world today BEGAN with Charles Taze Russell.

In Titus 3:9-11 the Apostle Paul advises us not to spend much time arguing with argumentative people who have no desire to find the truth. Paul states that if a man is still unsaved and unwilling to heed our Biblical warning after a couple conversations, it's time to move on. Jehovah's Witnesses are condemned of themselves, because you can't talk sense to them from the Scriptures.

The gentleman that I spoke with, while the other man stood behind him, actually told me that Jesus was a heretic like Charles Taze Russell. I couldn't believe he said that. To the Pharisees, Jesus was a lawbreaker and heretic because He healed on the Sabbath and allowed His disciples' to pick corn (Luke 13:14; Mark 2:23,24). So these two Jehovah's Witnesses at my door were trying to justify the unbiblical teachings of their religion's founder, by comparing Mr. Russell with Jesus. But there is a vast difference between the Truth which Jesus spoke and the utterly unbiblical heresies of Charles Russell.

Jehovah's Witnesses, more than any other false religion in my opinion, have made a science out of arguing religion. You'll never win an argument with a Jehovah's Witness, because they are so blinded by their own sinful pride that they can't be reasoned with. The best thing to do is briefly witness to them and then move on. If you're weak in the faith, it's best not to even speak with them, because most of them are masters of deceit and will fill your mind with all sorts of lies and perversions of the Scriptures. Most Jehovah's Witnesses have been thoroughly trained how to counter and attack every fundamental doctrine in the Word of God. They do so to their own destruction!

Also, the Jehovah's Witnesses read solely from the New World Translation version of the Bible, which was translated by, you guessed it, Charles Taze Russell. How deceitful it is that every Jehovah's Witness I meet tries to distance their organization as far as possible from Charles Russell, when the very book they hold in their hand was written by Russell. The New World Translation was so named in tribute to the New World Order of which the Freemason occult group is sword and committed, of which Charles Russell was also a 33rd degree member. So was Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormons. Satan has fabricated numerous false religions in these Last Days to deceive men and blind them from the truth of God's Word. The Founder of Scientology, Ron Hubbard, was personal friends with Aleister Crowley, a 33rd degree Freemason and the most renowned Satanist of his time. There is an occult connection to many of today's religions.

The Jehovah's Witness religion is a false cult of non-believers. They pervert the Scriptures, pervert the meaning of being “born-again,” pervert the meaning of “Christian” and are of the Devil. Beware of this false religious group when they come knocking at your door. Do not bid them God speed. I simply tell them that Jesus is Almighty God and I'll pray for their eyes to be opened, and then I leave it at that. There's no use going on-and-on debating with them, because it's what they want, thinking they're going to be rewarded for time spent wasting your time. I'm not trying to be unkind, but you'll never waste more time in your life than arguing with a Jehovah's Witness. Share the basic Gospel with them and then move on when it's apparent that they're not listening.
