The Sin of Being Cold Hearted

By David J. Stewart | June 2017

Romans 5:4-5, “And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed;
because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost
which is given unto us.”

       Some people, even professed believers, can be so cold hearted and insensitive. I've often experienced such coldness and lack of love from fellow believers. It is a sure sign that such believers DO NOT abide in the Scriptures and walk with God. Our text Verse from Romans 5:5 teaches that THE LOVE OF GOD IS SHED ABOARD IN OUR HEARTS BY THE HOLY GHOST. Romans 8:9, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” John 16:7, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” I love the Comforter, the blessed Holy Spirit!!!

It matters not how horrible of an upbringing you may have had (and I've heard horror stories from some of my web visitors, asking for my advice and prayers), you can become the most loving person if you have God's Holy Spirit indwelling you. Every born-again believer has the Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 3:16-17; 1st John 3:24). My friend, if you have anything less than a bountiful love for everyone, you don't walk closely with God. I love everyone, God knows my heart. That's not to say that I don't get my feelings hurt, or get upset with others for a short time, but I have learned to let things go quickly. When I draw near to my blessed dear Savior, Who is the epitome of love, Who died on the cross for a worm like me, I weep and cannot harbor hatred against any human being nor fallen angel. Ephesians 4:30-32, “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” Did you read that? ... AND BE YE KIND ONE TO ANOTHER, TENDERHEARTED, FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER!!!

I memorized a precious passage of Scriptures this week, and will never forget it... Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Oh my friend, it is a wonderful to love the unloving. That is the true Christian way. That is God's unconditional love. Jesus said to do good to them who do us wrong. We ought to pray for those who despitefully use us. We are commanded by the Lord to love those who hate us. Sometimes a person is so filled with hate that the refuse to even communicate with you. All you can do is pray for them and place it into the Lord's hands. God knows our heart. God sees everything (Psalms 136:1-6). God is omniscient (knows all) and omnipresent (all present). I have many faults, but I am a loving person. I refuse to hate anyone. No matter how horrible someone mistreats me personally, I will always wave to them in kindness, because I have God's love for them. That is the Holy Spirit in me! When someone is malicious, mean, unkind and hurts me, I let it go into God's hands for judgment, and I smile and wave at the person in unconditional Christian love. I will not return hatred for hatred. I won't do it! I am going to LOVE everyone, regardless of how bad they mistreat me. God will deal with them (Romans 12:19), just as we must all give account one day before God (Romans 14:10-12).

It is a sin to be uncaring and cold-hearted. It is wrong to become indifferent, not caring one way or the other about things that adversely affect others, like the satanic modern Bible versions, which are sending people to the Lake of Fire.

“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God,
and that obey not THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
