Religion Is The Worst Thing That Ever Happened

By David J. Stewart | June 2020

Mark 7:9 and 13, “And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. ... Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.”

People sure are foolish aren't they? The Bible speaks about being “pure in heart.” Sincerity and being pure in heart are not the same thing. Sincerity just means you honestly believed you were right about something. Being pure of heart means you questioned your sincerity, when someone told you otherwise, and you obeyed THE TRUTH. Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

As an example: I used to sincerely support 'Chick Jacks.' As a kid I collected them. As a young adult I bought cases of them! But in 2008 one of my web visitors opened my eyes. A man told me that he wouldn't get saved for a long time, because Evangelist Jack Chick's intriguing 'Chick Tracts' had taught him, that God wouldn't save him unless he was willing to stop shacking up with his girlfriend in fornication (sinning). Since the man wasn't willing to turn from some of the sins in his life, he thought he couldn't be saved. I think that's a big issue. Jack Chick misled him and is corrupting the gospel, adding a step that God never added to be saved. We are the SINNERS and Jesus is the SAVIOR; it's that simple! A person is saved if they come to God as a needy sinner (Romans 3:19), trusting Jesus Christ as their Savior (John 20:31). Christ died on the cross for our sins. He was buried, and 72 hours later He miraculously resurrected from the dead. This is 'The Gospel' which will “save them that believe” (1st Corinthians 1:21; Romans 1:16; 1st Corinthians 15:1-4).

At first I refused to listened to the man, because I loved Jack Chick's ministry. But he was persistent, saying that he almost went to Hell because of Jack Chick. The man kindly said I was bidding Godspeed to a false teacher, which made me partaker of his evil deeds (2nd John 1:11). He said for years he wanted to get saved, but didn't, because he read in a Chick Tract that you must “be willing to turn from sin (repent)” on the back page of every Chick Tract, and he believed Jack Chick. It took me about six months to come to my senses. That's how much I loved Chick Tracts! But once the seed of THE TRUTH had been planted, God started convicting my soul day by day.

I kept revisiting the doctrinal matter of Jack Chick's theology. Finally one day I laid the ax to the root, and thought to myself, either Jack Chick is right, or he is wrong, one or the other! Does a person have to be willing to “turn from your sin” to be saved? The Bible answer is a resounding “NO.” So I went 180 degrees from promoting Jack Chick's ministry, to refuting and exposing him as a Satanic false prophet! Jack Chick perverted the Gospel by adding human reformation (turning from sins) to it. Salvation does not require penitence (sorrow for sins); nor does it require penance (mending your ways); nor does it require reformation (turning from sins); it requires repentance (a change of mind) unto the Gospel itself, which produces regeneration (the new birth).

It shouldn't have taken six months for me to come to my senses about Jack Chick. It will never happen again! I am quick now to refute anyone who adds to the grace of God for salvation. I am sick and tired of Christian leaders being loyal to each other instead of the Bible. Anything can be justified. It is apostasy! I see influential Christian authors and leaders supporting men like Jack Chick who teach millions of people that they cannot be saved, unless they surrender to Christ and are willing to make an effort to stop sinning. In step one Jack Chick says to 'admit you are a sinner,' and then in step two he requires people to 'be willing to turn from sin (repent).' Biblical repentance only requires step one, not step two. Since this is a separate step from admitting you're a sinner, clearly Jack Chick expects people to reform to be saved. This is a false gospel and I'm going to contend for the Christian faith against anyone who hinders sinners from coming to Christ for salvation. Jack Chick is hindering sinners from coming to Christ!

I am not being unkind, but it's time for Christians to stop getting their theology from Hollywood movie stars like Kirk Cameron, high-level Freemasons like Pat Robertson (who was ordained into the ministry at the Freemason Street Baptist Church), Council On Foreign Relations [CFR] members like Rick Warren, and cartoon artists like Jack Chick. WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURE? WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURE? WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURE? WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURE?

Matthew 7:22-23, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Religion is man trying to reach God through human effort, but Christianity is God trying to reach man by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son on the cross. Sadly, once a person is infected with religion, they are well nigh hopeless. All this junk theology at Bob Jones University and Moody Bible Institute nowadays, about “turn from your sins” to be saved is religion at its worst (or best from a Satanic perspective). I just wrote an article yesterday about this heresy, exposing Beth Moore for preaching it!

In the following excellent helpful quote, Evangelist Michael P. Bowen refutes Pastor Rick Warren:

When you want real sugar in your coffee, you do not want sugar substitutes because they simply won’t suffice. You want the real thing. Natural cane sugar is the choice of sweetener for most people who drink coffee. Too much sugar is a bad thing, of course, but those artificial, chemical-based sweeteners such as Aspartame, in particular, can literally wreak havoc upon your health and worsen existing health conditions. Similarly, it is common knowledge among bible scholars that Satan and his legions of demons are able to perform tremendous, albeit limited, miracles and wonders in order to deceive people from ever knowing the truth about salvation. Essentially, Satan provides “sugar substitutes” whereas God only provides the “real thing.” ...

Rick Warren says that Jesus died for you. Jesus came to give you a better life here and now and in the future. All you need to get into heaven is to realize that you can’t earn your way into heaven, that heaven is a perfect place and no sin can enter it. Warren says you have to be perfect to get into heaven. He says that Jesus died for us, that He lived a perfect life as an example for us to follow, to show us how to live our lives, essentially. Warren says that we must believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life just like He said He was. Warren says that you have to believe in Jesus and you have to receive Jesus (believe and receive). To do this, Warren says you must admit to Jesus that you need Him, that you must admit your mistakes to Him, and that you must tell Him that you want to turn from your way of life and live a brand new life. Warren says that repent means “a change of mind” from your way of living to the way Jesus wants you to live. Warren says you must determine to follow Christ. Warren says you must pray and invite Jesus into your heart.

In his sample prayer, he tells you to admit to God that you don’t understand it all, but that you realize something is missing from your life, that you want a better life, that you want a relationship with Christ. Warren says to tell Jesus that, as best you know how to do, that you open your life to Him. Warren says to ask Jesus to forgive you, to come into your life, to have Jesus make Himself real to you, and to give you a purpose in life. Warren says that if you meant this with all of your heart, that angels are now rejoicing over the fact that you have just accepted Christ in to your life. Warren then tells you to join a church, that you need help to grow, and that you need to make your decision to follow Jesus public. That is the paraphrased version of the plan of salvation according to Rick Warren. Now, in a previous video that Warren had on the Internet, he said that in order to remain in a relationship with Christ, you have to keep striving to live according to biblical principles. Warren, in fact, states this very thing in his best-selling book “The Purpose Driven Life,” yet, he neglects to mention this aspect in clear terms during this particular video.

As children, most of us were told the tale of the Pied Piper, a story about a man who played a type of flute who led little children away from the care of their families and ended up drowning in the river. Like the Pied Piper, Warren plays an irresistible tune that no one can ignore. Once people hear what he has to say, they are hooked. Warren digs down into the cores of our individual beings, down into our deepest desires of wanting to forget our pasts, our mistakes and failures, of wanting to make our present lives the best that they can be, and by telling us that if we invite Christ into our hearts and give ourselves to Him that we will go to heaven; however, like the fictional Pied Piper, Warren leads every mesmerized believer of this false gospel to a place of drowning, but not in a river of water; instead, it is the eternal lake of fire, according to the bible. Jesus Christ offers a very different plan of salvation. Jesus said that the will of the Father was for everyone to recognize Christ as the Messiah and to believe on Him alone for the gift of everlasting life. “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:40). To make it ever more succinct, Jesus then said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life” (John 6:47). The gospel message is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When we believe that Jesus died for us and came back to life three days later, He knows it — He knows all of your thoughts — and He knows the very instant that you believe His gospel message.

The instant you believe His message, Jesus saves you. Time and time again we see in the bible that when people heard this message, they “believed.” When they believed, they were saved that very
same instant. They did not pray prayers of salvation asking Jesus into their hearts. They did not commit their lives to the Lordship of Christ. They did not determine to follow Him all the days of their lives in obedience to His Lordship or to the practice of discipleship. They simply believed on Christ alone as their savior.

Boy that's great stuff! We are at war ladies and gentleman over the Gospel today! Satan has crept his Lordship Salvation counterfeit gospel into most of the so-called churches, turning them into demonic religious cults. The Harvest Baptist Church on Guam drove me out in 2014, and has banned me from returning since, because I befriended them with the truth. They've treated me like a criminal. I've never felt so hated in all my life by a group. It took me six months to come to my senses about Chick Tracts, but I did come to my senses. Luke 15:17a, “And when he came to himself...” Harvest Baptist Church on Guam have not come to themselves yet, neither concerning the gospel, nor the corrupt modern Bible revisions.

Religion Is The Worst Thing That Ever Happened To This World

Kindly, neither have Bob Jones University come to themselves, being woefully deceived by Dr. Steve Pettit. Every adherent of Lordship Salvation at some point in life will either come to them self, or else they will hear the horrifying words from the Lord Himself in eternity: “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” It is amazing how the very people who read and quote this passage, are the ones to whom Christ will speaking this condemnation someday! You don't get saved by turning from your sins. That is religion! You don't get saved by trusting Christ plus being willing to repent of your sins. That is religion!

You get saved by wholly resting in Jesus' name, because of what He has already done on the cross to pay for your sins! I didn't say repentance is not necessary for salvation. Repentance facilitates believing. But what is repentance? It simply means to change your mind. That is the Bible Greek meaning. Repentance is to change your mind from WRONG THINKING, to believing The Gospel (The Good News) of Christ who died in your place on the cross, and was buried, and then raised up triumphant over death the third day. If you, oh needy sinner, believe Christ did that FOR YOU, and by faith you receive His sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins, you are saved! Nothing else is required by God.

Religion comes along and says: “You must repent of your sin to be saved,” like Pastor Marty Herron errantly teaches. The Harvest Baptist Church on Guam despises me, because I am not religious like they are. I don't use 19 different Bible revisions. I am not that religious, I just cling to my inspired King James Bible. I don't try to turn from my sins to get to Heaven, I just keep sinning and am thankful for the gift of forgiveness, through the sacrifice of His only begotten Son on the cross for my sins. My Harvest neighbours despise me. Sometimes I get a wave from some of them, which means more than I can put into words, but it all means nothing “ultimately” (Pastor Herron's favorite word) as long as I am not welcomed in their church.

Perhaps that is because they are a cult, and I am a true Christian, and like Seventh-Day Adventists, I just don't fit in. I just don't care anymore if they accept me back, but I do care about preaching THE TRUTH. All I ever wanted was to be their friend. I am reminded of 2nd Corinthians 6:14, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?” The dedicated religious people in Matthew 7:22-23, who followed Jesus and preached in His name everywhere they went, were unbelievers! They were infidels! They went to Hell forever!!! Please think about that.

I know the pain of being rejected by a so-called Baptist “church,” because they would rather follow the traditions of men than the inspired commandments of God. My neck hurts. My soul hurts. They say misery loves company. Well, I think I'll just keep Harvest “company” for the next ten years on the internet, while I live here alone in my misery. Like Rambo says, “They drew first blood!” I was just in town trying to get a spiritual meal, like John J. Rambo, but some King Bozo pastor bullied me out of town, because they didn't want my type around, and now they have a war on their hands. I guess I watch too many I admit I'm a Rambo fan. I'm also a Jurassic Park fan. I have all 9 seasons of the X-files! In fact, I'm done typing, I'm going to watch Mulder and Scully for a dose of sanity!
